Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center now offers English and Spanish-language virtual reality tours of our wildlife hospital! See our veterinarians hard at work saving monkeys, sloths, and more.
The virtual reality tour also comes with a quiz at the end to test your knowledge!
Why do animals come to our hospital? Here are just a few reasons an animal may find itself needing medical care:
- They are injured from power lines, cars, or other parts of our society that create an unnatural environment. Monkeys and sloths in particular are at risk of electrocution as they attempt to cross streets by climbing power lines. The more trees are cut down, the more tempted they will be to climb up a pole instead.
- They are being brought from another facility and need a check-up or to be quarantined. If a new animal arrives at our center, the team likes to perform a check-up to make sure they’re okay!
- They are very young orphans who need care. Sometimes, an animal who is too small to care for itself arrives at Rescate. They may need to be fed, incubated, or otherwise cared for.
And there are a number of other reasons why an animal might find itself in the hospital!
Why virtual reality?
Of course, like any hospital, it’s important to keep the environment sterile. It’s also important not to stress the animals any more than necessary as they heal, grow, and rest.
To give visitors a glimpse of what goes on in the hospital, we have developed this virtual reality tour! When you arrive at the hospital, tell the Rescate team member which language you prefer, put on the headset, and watch as our team helps wild animals native to Costa Rica.
