What I love most about this place is that they're NOT a zoo. They're strictly focused on wildlife rescue and conservation, providing injured, endangered, and rescued animals with a safe haven to live and thrive. You'll see big, spacious, open natural enclosures where the animals can roam and be free. But their main goal is rehabilitating and returning as many of those animals back to the wild as possible. And the coolest thing is that a lot of their "residents" are there by their own free will. Those animals are completely free to come and go as they please, with nothing stopping them from leaving or returning whenever they want. Imagine that: an entire beautiful country like Costa Rica with no shortage of lush green mountains and rainforests, and so many animals CHOOSE to live there. On top of that, our tour guide, Eduardo, was extremely knowledgeable about both the animals and the local flora and fauna. The rescue center is in excellent condition, with each rescued animal's story documented, and information available on what to do if you find wild animals in need. The paths are well-maintained, as are the individual animal enclosures. Several areas with felines offer better viewing opportunities. There are also rescued capybaras and axolotls.
